Pain
At one time or another, every Taekwon-Do practitioner has to deal with pain – and with it comes frustration, setbacks, and the temptation to either push through when you should not, or stop training completely when you could be doing something productive.
This TKD Coaching release tackles one of the most misunderstood areas of training: finding the right balance between training and recovery, and learning to make calm, informed decisions when pain shows up.
In our Premium video, Sanna Rantasaari (physiotherapist and 5th degree black belt) introduces a Taekwon-Do specific lecture on pain, recorded as part of the ITF Patterns Unleashed online programme, which TKDCoaching has partnered with.
What you will learn in this course
- How to understand and deal with pain as a martial artist
- The relationship between pain and your brain
- Current trends in soft tissue injury management
- General guidelines for overuse injuries and traumatic injuries
- How to endure rehab time without losing your momentum
- How to train when pain is present (and when you should not)
- Extra practical insights in the Q&A at the end of the session
One of the most valuable takeaways is learning that pain is not always a simple indicator of damage – and that understanding what is happening can help you train with more confidence, reduce fear, and make better choices for long-term progress.
If you teach classes, this topic matters even more. Knowing how to guide students through common training pains, flare-ups, and recovery periods can be the difference between a student staying consistent or dropping away entirely.
Course format
The full course is broken into nine videos, making it easy to work through in short, practical chunks as you have time. It is a must-watch for anyone who wants a clearer understanding of pain and a more sensible approach to training longevity.
By Sanna Rantasaari, physiotherapist and 5th degree black belt.
