Shoulder injury prevention for Taekwon-Do

In the sample video above, Master Mariusz Steckiewicz shares a short but highly practical session on shoulder care – focusing on both prevention and recovery for Taekwon-Do practitioners.

This Inside TKDC post accompanies the premium release Shoulders, from our ongoing partnership with Master Steckiewicz.

Shoulders

Shoulders can quietly become one of the biggest limiting factors in training as we get older. Even if your legs still feel good, shoulder discomfort can affect everything from basic patterns and fundamental techniques to pad work, power training, and teaching demonstrations.

In this 10-minute session, Master Steckiewicz walks you through a number of excellent shoulder exercises you can use to support long-term training – whether your goal is injury prevention, recovery, or simply staying mobile and pain-free.

A Short Session You Can Use Immediately

This video is deliberately simple and time-efficient. The movements are easy to follow, require minimal equipment, and can be added to your training in several ways:

  • as part of your warm-up before training
  • as a cool-down or recovery routine after class
  • as a stand-alone mobility session on lighter training days
  • as a practical shoulder-care routine for instructors

Because the format is clear and structured, it is also easy to adapt for older students, or for anyone returning from shoulder irritation and wanting a sensible path back to normal training.

Train Along in a Live Class Format

As with the other videos from this partnership, this was recorded as a live class. You can train along in real time as Master Steckiewicz explains each exercise and guides the pacing.

If you want to keep teaching and training for the long haul, shoulder maintenance is not optional – it is part of staying fit for purpose.

If you have had shoulder trouble in the past, or you simply want to reduce your injury risk as you age, this is a session you will return to again and again.
