About the Series

In 2021 we filmed Master Trotter delivering an ITF sparring seminar for instructors in Auckland. The material from this seminar was later edited into a series of short, focused videos—each one offering a clear, practical tip you can apply immediately in your own sparring or teaching.

These videos are designed to be quick, concise, and easy to absorb, whether you’re preparing for competition, teaching a class, or simply wanting to sharpen your ITF Taekwon-Do sparring skills.

What the Videos Cover

The Quick Tips for Sparring series includes a wide range of concepts, from fundamental movement drills to advanced tactical ideas. You’ll learn:

  • basic stepping drills and footwork for ITF sparring
  • how to control distance and timing against different opponents
  • effective defensive structures that keep you safe and ready to counter
  • simple but powerful counter-attack strategies
  • basic to advanced kicks that work well under sparring rules
  • combinations that transition smoothly under pressure
  • practical movement habits used by elite competitors

Each video offers a single takeaway presented in Master Trotter’s clear, no-nonsense style, making it perfect for fast improvement and easy to revisit before training or a tournament.
