Backward motion

In the sample video above, Master Mariusz Steckiewicz introduces the concept of backward motion and explains why it should be understood as a continuous movement rather than a fixed position. This short clip gives a glimpse into a much deeper coaching session available to TKDCoaching Premium Members.

This video forms part of our new collaboration with Master Steckiewicz and was delivered as a live online class. As a result, viewers are able to train along in real time as the concepts are explained, demonstrated, and refined throughout the session.

One of the key messages emphasised in this class is that backward motion is always active. Rather than thinking of it as a static stance or moment, Master Steckiewicz highlights the importance of maintaining flow, balance, and intent as the body continues to move. This subtle but important distinction has a direct impact on timing, power generation, and overall technical control.

The material is highly accessible for colour belt students who are developing their fundamentals, while also offering valuable refinements for black belts looking to improve precision and efficiency. Coaches will find plenty of practical teaching insights that can be applied immediately in regular classes.

This session is an excellent example of how a deeper understanding of basic movement principles can significantly improve overall Taekwon-Do performance.
