Angles & Trajectory of Techniques

Knowing the correct angles and trajectory of Taekwon-Do movements can be a tricky business. One key reason is that much of the detailed information is not explicitly covered in the Encyclopedia of Taekwon-Do.

As a result, senior instructors often rely on movement analysis, experience, and collaboration, along with guidance developed through technical committees, to refine how specific techniques should be performed and taught.

In the preview video above, you will see Master Thierry Meyour discussing angles and trajectory with his student, World Champion Mira Sjövall, offering an interesting insight into how high-level technical details are explored and refined.

Technique angles and trajectory

Small changes in trajectory, line, and angle can affect balance, power delivery, stability on landing, and the ability to transition cleanly into the next movement. They can also influence how a technique is interpreted and judged in patterns and technical performance.

  • Why some technical details are debated and interpreted differently
  • How movement analysis helps clarify what is effective and repeatable
  • How technical refinement can improve consistency under pressure
  • How coaches help athletes find precision without losing natural movement

Master Thierry Meyour is well known for his ability as a coach and instructor, and much of this comes from his love of analysing movement and working with athletes to improve their physical potential.

This session makes for an insightful watch for instructors who enjoy the finer technical details, as well as students who want to understand how elite performers refine technique beyond what is written on the page.
