A scientific approach to developing power

We are very excited to announce a new collaboration between TKDCoaching and Master Mariusz Steckiewicz.

A scientific approach to developing power

Power is one of the most talked-about qualities in Taekwon-Do, but it is often explained in ways that are too vague to apply in day-to-day training. In this Premium release, Master Steckiewicz takes a different approach. He breaks power down into clear, learnable components and connects them to real anatomy, real mechanics, and training methods you can use immediately.

This first video is presented as a live Zoom class for black belts from around the world. That format adds something special – you are not just watching a polished demonstration, you are taking part in a genuine teaching session. The pacing, the explanations, and the progressions feel like a real class, because they are.

What this class focuses on

Master Steckiewicz explores how the human body produces force and transfers it through the chain of movement. Rather than treating power as a single idea, he links it to practical factors such as alignment, timing, balance, and the way different parts of the body contribute at different moments.

You will also notice a strong emphasis on clarity. The goal is not to overwhelm you with technical terms, but to help you understand what you are trying to feel and what you are trying to improve. When you can explain power clearly, you can coach it more effectively – and you can correct it faster when something is off.

Why the scientific angle matters for instructors

Many students struggle with power because they are trying to copy an external shape without understanding what drives it. This class helps you build the missing bridge between “what it looks like” and “what it needs to do”. That makes it valuable not only for your own training, but also for the way you teach fundamentals, patterns, and sparring.

For instructors, the real advantage of this style of teaching is consistency. When your explanations are based on sound principles, students stop relying on guesswork. They gain a better sense of cause and effect – and that leads to more reliable improvement over time.

Train along with the class

Because this was a live session, you can also join in and train as Master Steckiewicz conducts the class. That means you can pause, repeat, and work through the same progressions at your own pace. It is an excellent way to turn a “watching experience” into a true training session.

In the sample video above, you will get a feel for Master Steckiewicz’s teaching style and the kind of detail he brings to the topic. If you enjoy learning the “why” behind training – not just the “how” – you will get a lot from the full session.

Who this video is best suited for

  • Instructors who want clearer coaching language and better ways to diagnose power issues
  • Black belts who want to refine fundamentals and improve the transfer of force through technique
  • Competitors who want better efficiency and sharper impact without wasting movement
  • Dedicated students who enjoy understanding the mechanics behind performance
