A Session with Master Wallace

A Session with Master Wallace

Training Session

This TKDC release features a training session with Master Gordon Wallace, an 8th degree black belt from Scotland and one of the most respected technical instructors in international Taekwon-Do.

Throughout the session, Master Wallace places strong emphasis on co-ordinating the entire body to generate maximum power. Rather than relying on tension alone, he explains how relaxation, timing, and correct sequencing of movement allow techniques to be delivered efficiently and effectively.

Co-ordination, Relaxation, and Power Generation

A recurring theme in this session is learning to relax the arms and legs, initiate movement through hip rotation, and then tighten the muscles precisely at the moment of impact. This approach allows power to be transferred smoothly through the body rather than being forced or restricted by unnecessary tension.

Master Wallace repeatedly reinforces this concept throughout the class, linking it directly to the Taekwon-Do principle of creating sufficient power for victory in a single blow.

In the sample clip above, Master Wallace demonstrates how to relax the limbs, use hip rotation effectively, and then apply focused muscular contraction at the exact moment of impact. It provides a clear visual example of the principles discussed throughout the session.
