TKDCoaching App Update
We know many of you have been waiting patiently for the new TKDCoaching app, and we really appreciate your patience.
We originally hoped to have the new version released some time ago, but the development and testing process has uncovered a number of unexpected issues. Rather than release an app that doesn't work properly, we've been working through these problems one by one.
We thought some of our Premium members would appreciate a more detailed explanation of what has been happening behind the scenes.
Licence de-activation issue
During testing on our staging site, we discovered a significant bug affecting membership licences.
In certain circumstances, licences could be incorrectly de-activated, which could prevent a Premium member from accessing the content they are entitled to.
This was obviously something we needed to resolve before releasing the app. We have spent considerable time testing the licence and membership system to make sure that Premium access remains properly connected to your TKDCoaching membership.
Apple registration problems
The biggest issue we are currently dealing with is the registration and release process with Apple.
The Google Play side of the release has been much more straightforward, but we have encountered problems with Apple's registration and app setup process. These are not problems with the app itself, but they have prevented us from completing the final release process for Apple devices.
We are currently working through this issue and are hoping to have it resolved within the next 48 hours, which would allow us to move ahead with the full release.
Coding problems and bugs
As we have tested the new V4 app across different devices and situations, we have also discovered a number of smaller coding problems and bugs.
Some have been relatively minor display issues, while others have involved links, membership access, navigation and the way different parts of the app communicate with the TKDCoaching website.
Each time we found an issue, we have had to fix it and then test the app again - sometimes discovering another problem as a result.
This has made the process considerably longer than we originally anticipated, but it also means that the version we eventually release should be much more reliable.
The good news is that we are now very close. Our immediate priority is resolving the remaining Apple registration issue. We are hoping this will be sorted within the next 48 hours, allowing us to finally release V4.
What happens when V4 is released?
Once V4 is released, everyone will need to download the new version of the app.
The new V4 app will be available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Please make sure you download the new V4 version rather than continuing to use the previous version of the app.
We appreciate that the delays have been frustrating, particularly for those of you who have been looking forward to using the new app.
We could have released it earlier, but we felt it was much better to take the extra time to identify and fix these problems rather than give our Premium members an app that wasn't working as it should.
Hopefully the Apple issue will be resolved shortly and we will finally be able to get V4 live!
Thank you again for your patience and for supporting TKDCoaching.
