Vets Seminar

New Video Release with Master Joliette Trân

We are pleased to release a new TKDC video focused on training, longevity, and continued improvement in Taekwon-Do for older practitioners. This Vets Seminar, led by Master Joliette Trân, addresses many of the challenges faced as we age in Taekwon-Do, while reinforcing the idea that progress and development do not stop with the passing of years.

Getting older in Taekwon-Do can feel difficult at times. It is easy to compare ourselves to younger practitioners who jump higher, kick faster, and recover more quickly. Injuries can take longer to heal, and a body that carries many years of training inevitably presents new challenges. This seminar reframes those challenges as part of the martial arts journey, using the philosophy and tenets of Taekwon-Do as practical tools for improvement through the years.

A Thoughtful and Practical Training Session

In this session, Master Trân works through realistic and achievable training methods designed specifically for veteran practitioners. Rather than focusing on what is no longer possible, the emphasis is on:

  • maintaining and improving mobility
  • developing functional flexibility
  • training with awareness of recovery and longevity
  • applying Taekwon-Do principles to long-term development

The seminar highlights how intelligent training can help practitioners continue to enjoy Taekwon-Do while protecting the body and maintaining technical quality.

Sample Clip – Flexibility for Kicking

In the free sample clip above, Master Trân works on hamstring flexibility, explaining how to extend the body in three directions during the stretch. This approach helps maintain correct posture and alignment, directly relating the stretch to the body position used in a front rising kick.

This clip offers a valuable insight into how flexibility training can be made more purposeful and directly relevant to Taekwon-Do technique, particularly for older practitioners.

Who This Video Is For

This seminar will be especially valuable for:

  • veteran Taekwon-Do practitioners
  • instructors teaching mixed-age classes
  • black belts looking to train smarter, not harder
  • anyone interested in longevity in martial arts
