Respect for the Knife - By Master Steve Pellow

The first step in learning how to defend against a weapon, is to have respect for that weapon. Master Steve Pellow has no problem doing that with this group of instructors as he moves from stick to knife skills, to give a true appreciation of what a skilled fighter can do.

The session ends with some honest discussion about knife defence in reality – something many martials arts ignore or put in the “too hard basket”.

Master Pellow begins the session by explaining that the Filipino arts begin with weapons then move back to hands. The same basic skills are applied to both weapons and empty hand fighting.

The class starts by learning some basic stick fighting then moves on to knife fighting skills. They play with defending against a skilled knife fighter… something not so easy.
