This is one of many exercises Mr Mike Lowe teaches in the full video on Hamstring Mobility. The band forces the hip into the correct position in the joint so that mobility can be increased.
Applying a force or weight to the hamstrings enables them to be stretched effectively, at the same time having the additional benefit of bing a great strengthening exercise for the hip area.
